From our crew to yours…Merry Christmas!
Growing up, Christmas was always such a special time for our family. Whether it was helping our parents decorate the tree, to writing our family’s Christmas letter, even watching my Grandfather drink a little too much “nog”; it was a time where traditions were cherished and memories were made. Christmas morning was filled with the aroma of cinnamon sticks on the stove and great anticipation, as my older brothers and I received clues from Santa to find our gifts. However, the best part of the season was learning about the true meaning of Christmas - the spirit of giving.
As I have gotten older, I have come to appreciate having such a unique childhood where we were taught the valuable lesson of giving. The story of Saint Nicholas (St. Nick or Santa) tackles the spirit of giving and doing good without receiving recognition. It is the mentality of paying it forward and wanting to leave the world a little brighter than it once was. In the words of Louis Armstrong, “I think to myself what a wonderful world” and it would truly be a wonderful world if everyone practiced this. That was such a special lesson to learn.
I must admit, I have gotten a lot more sentimental each holiday after my Dad passed away. It is during this season in particular that I am reminded of the traditions we created as a family and how it is now time for us to teach our children the spirit of giving. Just as God gave us his only son, I pray you take time this season to appreciate blessings that have been given to you and your loved ones. In the end, it will not be fame or money that completes your journey but that of faith, family and friends.
As we enter into December and anticipate the celebration of Christmas, I will you with another family tradition that we ended every Christmas letter with. May you and your family be blessed this Christmas season with health, wealth and time to enjoy them.
